Pensions

Anyone who thinks the State Pension will be all they need to enjoy a comfortable retirement should seriously think again.

The UK's over stretched Social Security system means that a financially comfortable retirement will only be available to those who have planned well ahead for this important stage of their life.

The Government has made it clear that the onus on pension provision lies very much with the individual. The State scheme still exists but the cushion it provides to pensioners to stay above the poverty line is not very well padded.

Please also remember that not everyone automatically qualifies for a full basic pension, a fact that many people fail to understand early in their careers. To be eligible for the full pension, an individual needs to have built up sufficient contributions to the National Insurance fund …. usually over some 40 years!

In recognition of this problem affecting much of society, there are currently a very wide range of pension arrangements available depending on whether you are:

  • an employee;
  • self employed; or
  • own your own business.
